Chapter 6

Two weeks passed quickly, with more and more rumors here and there pertaining to Dustin and Alice. It started out that they were friends, then friends with benefits (which scared him slightly when he looked up what that actually meant), but when he walked into school that day, a new rumor blossomed. They apparently were now dating. How did they come up with that assumption? Did they see him checking Dustin out whenever he could steal a glance? Did they take their friendship as something more and make a mistake? Even Janice asked him if they were dating, which, of course, he denied.

The rest of the day was spent avoiding Dustin at all cost. This was just like his band. As soon as something went amiss he avoided them, and now here he was doing the same thing to Dustin. Was he angry? He would never stick around to find out. He felt horrible. But he didn't want Dustin to feel awkward about the rumors that were not true.

He rushed to his car, ignoring the fact that the wind was making it obnoxious to rush in his skirt, and yelped as he was turned around, staring up into Dustin's angry orbs. He gulped, their close proximity scaring him even more than the anger he was emitting.

“I've kept your secret,” he started, looking almost hurt, “Are you mad at me? What did I do?” he demanded.

How could he answer? He gulped again and looked down,“There are rumors that we are dating, I don't want them to effect you” he admitted. It was quiet for a moment, before his head was turned to face him, their lips brushing together. The rock star's eyes widened as he stared up at the other, who pulled back and stared at him like a lost puppy. “I-I'm a guy, you know this,” he stuttered, making the other laugh and shake his head.

“Yeah. I realize this.”

“Then why did you kiss me?”

“Let me just start by saying I haven't been truthful with you.”

“What do you mean?” whatever prank Dustin was pulling was not funny. He wanted to cry, feeling like his emotions were being toyed with.

“I'm gay Riko, I always have been,” he started, more at a whisper so that people in the parking lot couldn't hear, “I was so confused when I started liking you as a girl. I knew I was gay from early on. My parents know, and so do my siblings. When I told my mom I was going out on a date with a girl she begged me not to just go out with girls because society would like it.”

Riko's heart pounded in his chest. He felt the other wrap his arms around his waist and pull him into a hug, the feeling of his breath against his neck sending shivers down his spine, “Please say something,” the other whispered, making him gulp once again.

“I think my hearts broken,” he grumbled, the other smiling against his neck.

“I can feel it beating.”

“I'm really confused, Dustin...” he whispered, slowly putting his arms around him and hiding his face in his shoulder, “I've never liked a guy before. But then there's you. I can't stop looking at you, thinking about you, and you calm me down almost instantly...”

“Why can't the rumors be true then? Riko, will you go out with me?”

His mouth was dry. He knew his answer, even if it did scare him. “Yes. I will.”

“I will admit... This is like a crazy dream..”

“It is.”

“I can't wait until you are able to be just yourself. No offense to your sister of course, but... boobs aren't my thing,” he joked pulling back and putting his hand against his cheek.

Riko smirked lightly and leaned up, pressing his lips to his. It was a sweet, and short kiss, especially since Riko didn't know much about kissing and didn't know what to do. The other took the lead, pressing him back against the car, deepening the kiss by tilting his head to the side.

It probably would have lasted longer, if not for the loud squeal of Janice running over and grabbing their arms, “So it's true!” she gasped, pulling Riko into a hug, making him nearly growl in protest. “I'm so happy for the both of you!”

“Janice...” Dustin's voice sounded a bit deeper, more annoyed, “I know you fail to pay attention to details, but really? Did you have to come over at this moment?”

“Oh come off it, Dustin. You're just trying to get her in the mood so you can get in her pants. I know how boys are.”

Riko pulled back and shook his head, “It's okay Janice, he's not intending that. I promise. I have to go home now anyway,” he half laughed, watching as she nodded, waved and ran over to her car.

“Lord knows how many men she's slept with since she started here anyway,” Dustin grumbled, Riko blinking and raising a brow, “Just ironic is all.”

“I don't want to know,” he shook his head, and let out a groan as his phone rang. “It's Ji Hwan again...” He waited until the phone lit up to tell him he had a missed call. He gulped, and looked to Dustin, who peered at him conflicted of telling him he should go back to being Riko, or staying quiet. “Can I ask a favor of you?”

“You know you can.”

“Tomorrow... Would you be able to ditch school? I'm going to tell the band what I've been up to and I don't want to be alone.”

“Yeah. My mom allows me four ditch days a year, since this is the first there should be no problem.”

Dustin and Riko agreed to meet at a coffee shop. He was dressed normally, but wore a hood and black thick-framed glasses, his spiked hair sticking out the front of the hood. He sat at the window on a stool, peering out and smiling as he saw Dustin walking up. He sat up, and rushed outside to greet him, handing him a cup of coffee and walking with him.

“It's different seeing you without boobs,” he teased, the smaller man blanching as he sipped his coffee, “But I'm glad you ran up to me. I didn't recognize you without your makeup and wearing the glasses.”

“That's the idea.” he smiled, blushing as the other took his hand.

“This is alright, right?”

“Mhm,” he sipped at his coffee and walked to his apartment building, and headed up the elevator, not letting go of his hand. He walked to his door, unlocked it, and held it open for the other, and followed him inside. He set his coffee on the counter and walked over to the fridge, “I'd offer you something to eat but... all I have is a jar of pickles,” he laughed, closing the door.

“It's alright. I had a late breakfast so I should be fine for a while.”

Riko nodded, pulling off his hoodie, and draping it on the back of a chair, walking over to the couch that Dustin took to sitting in, and sat down next to him. “I really appreciate you missing school to be with me. My parents threw a bit of a fit when I told them I was not going, but when I told them it'd get the police off their backs they lightened up a bit,” he half laughed.

“I wouldn't leave you hanging like that. Plus, this is the first time we've been together as a homosexual couple, right? It's kind of a big deal. Least to me.”

Riko blushed, and looked down. He hadn't thought about it that way. This really was the first time Dustin was seeing him as a man instead of a woman. He gulped and looked up at him shyly, the other laughing and leaning forward, kissing his forehead, “I'm just thankful is all.”

The doorbell buzzed, making Riko jump and groan. Of course they were thirty minutes early. They were worried about him, so it didn't surprise him, but really, what if he wasn't home yet? What would they have done then?

He stood, and headed to the door, looking back at Dustin, who smiled encouragingly. He turned to the door, and opened it, immediately being tackled by Seo Chul, the drummer. “You imbecilic retard! How dare you disappear!” he scolded, sitting on his stomach, making him grimace.

“Don't kill him, Chul,” Ji Song Chul, the bassist, scolded, pulling him up, making the other pout out his lip then rush inside to the fridge.

“Your out of food Gang Sin,” he complained.

“Well I haven't really been home, so that would explain why,” he rubbed the back of his head, standing up.

Ji Hwan pushed him back against the counter, and tilted his head upward, peering down at him, his brows furrowed. Riko's eyes shifted to Dustin, who glared slightly, then looked to the ground. The guitarist followed his gaze over to the couch, and dropped his chin, turning his gaze back to Riko.

“So. You called us here to explain something. Lets here it. Where have you been, and why did you find the need to leave us out of the loop? Do we mean nothing to you?”

“I have a better question,” Seo Chul stated, walking over with a pickle in his hand, “Who's he?” he pointed it over to Dustin with the pickle, who glanced up just as the drummer munched on it.

“Dustin Vega. He's a guitar child protege.”

“You know him?” Riko blinked.

“I had a run in with him when I was looking for you. He didn't like that I was questioning your sister the way I was, and I decided to look him up. Which... Why is he here?”

“He's my boyfriend,” Riko didn't hesitate. “And I would appreciate it, if we did not continue to talk like this as if he is not here.”

“Is that why you called us here?” Seo Chul asked, finishing off the pickle and sitting on a bar stool, “To come out of the closet?”

“Er, well not quite, but it doesn't hurt to say it I guess. Come on,” he turned and walked over to the sitting area, and sat next to Dustin. Ji Hwan took the single couch, sitting on the edge like he normally did, his legs crossed. Seo Chul sat on the floor (even though there were plenty of seats) and Song Chul sat down on the other side of Riko. “Well... Where to begin...”

Riko started with the accident. Explaining that at the party the reason he left in such a hurry was to see his sister, who still to this day was in a coma. He then told them about how his parents convinced him it was a good thing to pose as her, and he enlisted Tia into helping him out. He explained that he did not want to learn guitar for personal reasons, but to keep the cover of his sister. Of course, he brought up Dustin, but did not mention the fact that he bullied him, and simply stated that he was helping keep his cover.

“So your parents threatened to expose your secret to the media if you stopped?” Song Chul asked, his brows furrowed in disgust.

“Yes. That's why I stopped contacting you guys. I figured I just had to stop being myself until she woke up.”

“And what if she does not wake up?” Ji Hwan asked, asking the question the other two were no doubt wondering as well.

“I am giving her until the end of the school semester to wake up. If she does not, then I will stop no matter what.”

“To be honest,” Seo Chul rubbed the back of his head, “A lot of Korean Pop stars dress up as girls sometimes. Would it be so different if a Korean Rock star did? What I mean is. You could stop now. I doubt the media would really even care.”

“That's what I said,” Dustin nodded, looking to Riko, who sighed.

“I'm just... trying to help Alice out. That way, if she woke up in a week she can't say I gave up.”

“Well, despite this bit of shocking news I am glad that you are not hurt, and have been safe this whole time,” Ji Hwan stated, rubbing his chin, “Now what about the media now? They will want a story as to where you went and why none of us knew where you were.”

“Already thought about that,” Dustin smiled, “He forgot to tell everyone he was going up north for some skiing.”

“And when I heard that I had been missing I came back down. I will express my sincerest apologies for making everyone worry, and everything should be fine.”

“That could work,” Ji Hwan agreed, smiling for the first time since they arrived.
